Let the facts show...

This is very interesting...and true...

Worst president in history?

(The following appeared in the Durham, NC local paper as a letter to the editor.

Liberals claim President Bush shouldn't have started this war.
They complain about his prosecution of it.
One liberal recently claimed Bush was the worst president in U.S. history.

Let's clear up one point: President Bush didn't start the war on terror.
Try to remember, it was started by terrorists BEFORE 9/11.
Let's look at the "worst" president and mismanagement claims.

FDR led us into World War II.
Germany never attacked us: Japan did.
From 1941-1945, 450,000 lives were lost,
an average of 112,500 per year.

Truman finished that war and started one in Korea.
North Korea never attacked us.
From 1950-1953, 55,000 lives were lost,
an average of 18,333 per year.

John F. Kennedy started the Vietnam conflict in 1962.
Vietnam never attacked us.
Johnson turned Vietnam into a quagmire.
From 1965-1975, 58,000 lives were lost,
an averag! e of 5,800 per year.

Clinton went to war in Bosnia without UN or French consent.
Bosnia never attacked us.
He was offered Osama bin Laden's head on a platter three times by Sudan and did nothing.
Osama has attacked us on multiple occasions.
Over 2,900 lives lost on 9/11.

In the two years since terrorists attacked us,
President Bush has liberated two countries,
rushed the Taliban, crippled al-Qaida,
put nuclear inspectors in Lybia, Iran and North Korea without firing a shot,
captured a terrorist who slaughtered 300,000 of his own people.
We lost 600 soldiers, an average of 300 a year.
Bush did all this abroad while not allowing another terrorist attack at home.

Worst president in history? Come on!

The Democrats are complaining about how long the war is taking, but...

It took less time to take Iraq
than it took Janet Reno to take the Branch Davidian compound.
That was a 51 day operation.

We've been looking for evidence of chemical weapons in Iraq for less time
than it took Hillary Clinton to find the Rose Law Firm billing records.

It took less time for the 3rd Infantry Division and the Marines to destroy the Medina Republican Guard
than it took Teddy Kennedy to call the police after his Oldsmobile sank at Chappaquiddick.

It took less time to take Iraq
than it took to count the votes inFlorida!!!!

Our military is GREAT! PASS IT ON.

Bush Vacation
Bush bad for health

From stopdubya.com:
What the GOP wants you to think about:
1. Gay marriage
2. Gun rights
3. Welfare abuse
4. The Ten Commandments in public buildings
5. Keeping "Under God" in the Pledge of Allegiance
6. Bill Clinton's indiscretions
7. Tax cuts
8. Burning the American flag
9. Going back into outer space
10. Constitutional amendments to enforce morality

What they DON'T want you to think about:
1. The $7 trillion national debt
2. The projected $550 billion dollar budget deficit
3. The children left behind by "No Child Left Behind"
4. 547 American war dead on the pretense of Iraqi WMDs
5. Dubya's AWOL from his military obligation
6. Taxes on earned income higher than on unearned income
7. Gap between rich and poor growing faster than ever
8. 3 million lost jobs since dubya took office
9. Air and water quality deteriorating while EPA is gutted
10. Osama still on the loose
11. Conservation and alternative energy sources instead of war for oil
12. Our crumbling infrastructure, particularly inner cities, power grids, roads and bridges
13. Outsourcing of jobs as a tool of economic competition
14. Whether or not your government should lie to you about matters of life and death
15. Clear Channel and Rupert Murdock controlling 80% of the electronic news media

These are some more facts that you might want to take a look at. Doesn't mean he's the worst president ever, but it also doesn't put him up there with the best!!

What Liberals Don't Want Americans to Think About:

1. Securing our boarders to prevent illegal immigrants and terrorists out of our boarders.

2. National Security: Cutting back our intellegence so much that it is no longer effecient so that they cannot give information about terrorists and when they will strike. Plus reduced spending on the newest military technology.

3. Kerry committing war crimes during the Vietnam War (i.e. destroying villages and harming non-combatants...all against the Geneva Convention). All of this was said on the Dick Cavett Show on June 20, 1971

4. Liberal judges that legislate instead of determining the fairness of legislation already in place.

5. Would rather the United States to give up her soverignty bowing down to the United Nations.

6. Never tell about how we are trying to build schools, lay telephone wire, and give running water to Iraqis.

I would go on...but I do have other things to do.

Some good points, but I think it's grossly unfair to FDR to say he led us into war. Japan attacked us without warning at Pearl Harbor; Japan was allied with Germany. I would say the parallel with 9/11 and our response to it, first in Afghanistan and later in Iraq is quite good.

And in any case, if any war was justified, I'd say WWII was. Even if we didn't know about the death camps at the time we got into it.
