Grr......
Seems like this hasn't been a good week so far. I got my new ThermalRight SI-97 Heatsink and Panaflo fan in yesterday and spent all evening working on getting the thing on. Well...I succeeded in getting the heatsink and fan on my AMD Athlon XP 2000+ processor (flip-chip design). I have to say, I was really nervous about putting it on the exposed die. For those who don't know about the wonderful AMD flip chip design...if you don't put the heatsink on correctly, force the heatsink on, or something else to stress the chip, it can break the die which leaves the processor dead. Bad thing.
Anyway, I got that together. Plugged in the new power supply (which was fun because the heatsink was partially covering the main power plug-in), plugged in all of the components, and booted it up. And it won't boot. It gives a long *BEEEP* and no video. Still not sure what's causing it to do that. I gave up on it around 11p and decided to email Epox tech support.
Now, on to this morning. I come in and see one of the proffessors trying to print something and the printer is making this horrible knocking noise. On top of that it jams every page, so it cannot complete one print cycle. So we're going to get a new, used printer of the same model. Ok, got that taken care of. Now, I just need to make copies. And wouldn't you know it, the copier jams everytime I try to copy something. Come to find out, it was the paper. The humidity was causing the paper to become "wavy" and causing the copier to jam. Got that taken care of. So that is my week thus far.
