Ubuntu 5.10

I've been playing around with Ubuntu Linux 5.10. It's very user friendly (as Linux goes). I don't think I'll be going straight to Ubuntu seeing that there are no drivers for the Pixma IP3000 printer that we have. Sucks. Anyway, everything else pretty much works pretty well. I still haven't been able to get my thumbdrives to work, but besides that I've had pretty good luck with it. If you don't want to download the ISO image and are willing to wait a few weeks, they'll ship you CDs for free! If you're tired of Windows and curious about Linux, this is definitely the way to go.

::DISCLAIMER::
Linux is not for the faint of heart. To install programs and stuff you have to use the command line pretty regularly. There are a few programs that do have graphical installers, but some do not. Updating drivers can be tedious and possibly could screw up your install (especially updating display drivers or the X-server...which you will be living on the command line until you reinstall). I'm not trying do discourage anyone from using Linux, but I'd recommend that beginners and some intermediate computer users not install Linux on their hard drive. So...having said that....have fun!

Yeah, I really like it. I finally got the 3D acceleration to work on it now. I am now content.
