Spot Gas Shortages, Obviously Bush's Fault.

Oil is over $70 and now there are spot gas shortages. Hmm...obviously Bush's fault. I mean, he's in cahoots with the evil oil corporations. The oil companies are making HUGELY OBSCENE profits and screwing the po' man. Ignore what people say about how the profit margins are shrinking. What do economists and business people know anyway? They're trying to screw people out of money too. People who drive the huge urban assault vehicles (read SUVs) are not to blame either. I mean, they have to protect their family in case they're in a crash with a mid-size sedan. So what if it takes $100 to fill up their tank? They have the right to moan and complain about the high gas prices because they have to protect their family, right? Environmentalists aren't to blame either because they're trying to protect the one-legged pink egret from being destroyed by the big, bad, evil oil companies. We all know that oil companies hate the environment. Environmentalists always have the public's interests at heart.

It's obviously Bush's fault and the Republican Congress's fault that gas prices are high. Not only is it their fault for high gas prices, but they're trying to screw the environment by trying to drill in ANWR. Sure, we want to end our dependance on foreign oil, but we obviously can't destroy the environment.

It's sad that a lot of economically-ignorant Americans think this way...

A year ago, Bush was pushing his energy policy stating we would have cheaper fuel, no shortages, blah, blah, blah .. the usual Bush*t. Congress passed his energy policy and it is fully implemented, aren't you pleased with the results?

Just what has Bush done that has bettered America?

Boortz is a putz, I could not scroll through his bush*t, btw, Boortz went to the same college as I did :TAMU. So I have tried to make an effort, but it is hopeless.

So let me get this straight, you are saying the liberal estimate of USCG is worth the risk in ANWR?
The 7.7 billion potential would last 600 days. All that for 2 years of oil.

Risk of what? If you're talking about caribou you should be reminded that the caribou population actually thrived when oil was drilled in Alaska. And don't you think that the 55 blends of gas is a factor of high gas prices? ANWR may not solve our problem, but it certainly will help.

Nathan,
ok then what? Maybe we should invade Saudi Arabia, or Nigeria? Do not be short sighted here, please you are not a mind numb robot. The U.S. can be energy independent in less than 5 years. Combine conservation and biofuels, wind, clean coal and solar.5 years? A cleaner environment and tremendous economic growth from the shift to renewables. We already have the technology. What is missing is will power. Consider Brazil's transition to ethanol; over 50% of the new vehicles sold are running ethanol. No infrastructure change needed. The USA is the bread basket of the world.I run my Jetta on biodiesel, I make it at home for 80cents a gallon.Thats total cost, includes my labor and the power used.No changes to the vehicle at all, I have been running BioDiesel since my first fill up. I get 50+ miles to the gallon and I do not have a light right foot! Do not take my word for it, just a little research for yourself and you will find I am not blowing any smoke here. Now if a few of us can do that as hobbyists, imagine what the country is capable of with the will to make it happen.A 15 dollar sensor and a control unit flash programming(about 1/2 hours labor) and any modern fuel injected vehicle can run on e85 ethanol. You and I do not have to be field hands for low wage conservatives.
All this to say look beyond what the talking heads say.You are a smart kid, why settle for so little?
2 years of oil won't change the countries needs. It would spell disaster for area 1002.

Wow Glen that's impressive. Congratulations for using bio-diesel fuel. Your point about Brazil is excellent- we should try to do the same as Brazil. They are energy independant because of their conversion to ethanol. They are now starting to export ethanol to other countries. Brazil began this program 25 or 30 years ago, when the first energy crisis happened in the U.S. It is too bad we did not act trying to solve energy problems, instead we ended up creating more of them.

Happy Earth Day Everyone. Btw, the Alaskan National Wildlife Refuge is more than caribou, the ecosystem is fragile and vast, why destroy the few areas of pristine beauty and nature? Why not try to work in the direction that Brazil took?
