A Few Fun Factoids

Here are a few factoids about "global warming" from Uncle Neal. Enjoy!

1. The sun is hotter. Period. This fact cannot be denied. The sun is going through a lengthy period of increased activity that causes it to radiate more heat into space. Is it really that hard to believe that a hotter sun would lead to a hotter earth?
2. Our polar ice caps are melting? Sure looks like it. But .. the polar ice caps on Mars are melting also. So, are we to believe that this is caused by man on the Earth but by the hotter sun on Mars?
3. And while we're talking about ice caps melting, it's worth noting that the ice pack in the heart of Antarctica is actually getting thicker!
4. Scientific data clearly shows that the Earth has undergone warming and cooling cycles for millions of years. Why, all of a sudden, does a warming cycle just have to be caused by the actions of man?
5. Scientists who work on government grants are more inclined to blame global warming on the actions of man than are scientists who do not depend on continued government (political) funding.
6. And just how much warmer has our atmosphere become in the last 100 years? One degree. That's it. Just one degree.
7. Many of the people who are so involved in promoting the man-made global warming theme are people who are also involved in anti-capitalist movements. So, what is their true goal? Do they want to solve the global warming problem, or do they want to cripple the capitalist systems they so hate?
8. The U.S. Senate snubbed the Kyoto treaty by a vote of 99-0. This was during the Clinton years! What did these 99 senators know about the Kyoto Accords that we don't know?
9. Speaking of the Kyoto accords, they would severely impact the U.S. economy, but would leave China absolutely alone! China has one of the fastest growing economies in the world. Since a huge number of Kyoto proponents can also be called anti-American, could this cause you to wonder what the true goal of Kyoto is?
10. And just how many years ago was it that these very same scientists were warming us about the earth getting cooler?

Nathan,

Is it criminal to act ignorant when you are so much smarter? The debate is over, get on board. Standing on the track is not brave, it's fatal.
Yes kyoto is flawed. No doubt there. Is it a starting place, the answer is yes.
Climate change is not a political issue. It is a matter of survival.

Flawed? There are no restrictions on China, one of the biggest polluters in the world, but yet the United States is greatly restricted? That's not flawed, that's bass-ackwards. Why is it scientists were exclaiming that we were about to enter a new ice age?

I just love how you spew "low-wage conservative" from the outhouse known as socialism/communism. I don't really care what you call me. I could careless about what your opinion of me is. I know that no matter what I say or how I say it, you have already labeled me as a "low-wage conservative" and nothing I can say will change your mind. So if calling people who believe in the capitalistic system "low-wage conservatives" makes you feel better then fine...whatever floats your boat dude.

What really gets me is how the socialists/communists have adopted environmentalism not because they care about the environment, but because they see it as a way to destroy capitalism, and it looks like it may work if they can pass the Kyoto Treaty.

I am not calling you anything Nathan. I am responding in the same sense you are posting in. Sorry if it strikes close to home. I do not see any reason to sugar coat the truth, low wage conservative is a reality. Republicans are not for the most part conservatives. If anyone falls into both of those camps it must be hard to sleep at night. I can't really say communism, but if defending us working folk is socialism then I guess I am. I am committed to looking out for the interests of working folks. Real people that have no representation in the decisions that effect their lives. Does it ever strike you as wrong that 98% of incumbents are reelected? Reality is I vote green, not socialist or communist. I've served honorably in the armed forces of the united states, so I have a stake in the future of our nation.
The kyoto treaty is dead Nathan. The protocol or framework is not. Kinda' makes one wonder why the rest of the industrialized nations are committing so much of their resources to climate mitigation despite the u.s. not ratifying it.
Forget the rhetoric for a moment and look at the science dispassionately. The empirical evidence is overwhelming, climate change is affected by man. We can ignore it, even gin up pr to argue from the sideline. The truth does not change, if we continue down the same path it will continue to get worse. Assuming we are not past the point of no return already. Nothing the greens or the republicans or the democraps or any other political entity says will change that reality. It is not a partisan issue, the debate is done. If we don't ammend our behavior it will be fatal.
best regards

Nathan,

Is it criminal to give an answer to one who, while ignorant of standard punctuation, affects fully to comprehend the environment?

Herodotus

P.S.

Plato informed me of this debate; that is why I commented. Tell Xanthippe I say hello.

Words are important. I do not pretend to be a linguist or a scientist, only a christian concerned about the truth. Can you say the same?
Are you concerned about the truth? Oh, thats right its the messenger that is the problem. My humblest appologies, I did not mean to disturb your illusions. Please forgive me.
Check out the science Nathan. You don't have to be a sheep. The view is clearer at the front.
best regards
