Title 8, Section 1325 of the US Code: Improper Entry by Alien

Just to remind those who are illegal aliens. It is a violation of Title 8, Section 1325 of the United States Code.

Section 1325. Improper entry by alien

(a) Improper time or place; avoidance of examination or inspection;
misrepresentation and concealment of facts
Any alien who (1) enters or attempts to enter the United States
at any time or place other than as designated by immigration
officers, or (2) eludes examination or inspection by immigration
officers, or (3) attempts to enter or obtains entry to the United
States by a willfully false or misleading representation or the
willful concealment of a material fact
, shall, for the first
commission of any such offense, be fined under title 18 or
imprisoned not more than 6 months, or both, and, for a subsequent
commission of any such offense, be fined under title 18, or
imprisoned not more than 2 years, or both.
(b) Improper time or place; civil penalties
Any alien who is apprehended while entering (or attempting to
enter) the United States at a time or place other than as
designated by immigration officers shall be subject to a civil
penalty of -
(1) at least $50 and not more than $250 for each such entry (or
attempted entry); or
(2) twice the amount specified in paragraph (1) in the case of
an alien who has been previously subject to a civil penalty under
this subsection.
Civil penalties under this subsection are in addition to, and not
in lieu of, any criminal or other civil penalties that may be
imposed.

(c) Marriage fraud
Any individual who knowingly enters into a marriage for the
purpose of evading any provision of the immigration laws shall be
imprisoned for not more than 5 years, or fined not more than
$250,000, or both.
(d) Immigration-related entrepreneurship fraud
Any individual who knowingly establishes a commercial enterprise
for the purpose of evading any provision of the immigration laws
shall be imprisoned for not more than 5 years, fined in accordance
with title 18, or both.

Praise Those Who Break The Law, Condemn Those Who Defend It.

Gay bashing? Woman hating? Hmm...that doesn't describe me. Apparently someone thinks that Republicans are this which is unfortunate. Do I hate gays? No. You love the person and hate the sin. Do I hate women? Of course not! Do I hate blacks, hispanics, or any other minority? No. Am I a Republican? Yes.

Do I want to keep people out of my country? That depends. I don't want terrorist to come into this country and I don't want immigrants who would just come in here and leech off of government programs. I am a decendant of immigrants. I think immigration is great for the United States, but I believe that there should not be an open border just to allow everyone in at once. I think that the process for naturalization should be streamlined. Should immigrants have access to public assistance? Hmm...not right away, but after they pay taxes for about a year I would say that we should make it available to them. Do I sound like a bigot or a racist? I don't think I do.

The only problem I have with immigration are those who have entered the country illegally. I think illegal immigration and turning our head to it is a slap in the face to those who have entered the country and became citizens through the proper channels.

It's a sad day when there are those who condemn those who try to protect their country by defending the border and praise those who break the law.

Google Finance Is Teh Awesome!!

I heard that Google now has added Google Finance to their arsenal. I've looked at it and played around in it and I think it's great! I've used Yahoo! Finance for ever, but I really like Google's smooth interface and interactive chart. Very cool. Go check it out, now!

Free Market Set Prices, Not Board Rooms

Ben Stein has an excellent article explaining that big corporations, like ExxonMobil, are not the culprits of high energy prices. Shocking isn't it? So, if big, evil corporations aren't to blame...who is? Perhaps we should blame ourselves for not allowing to explore for oil (i.e. the speck of land in ANWR that was allowed by Congress to drill...by the way, look at this for myths about drilling in ANWR) while researching new energy sources.

The "Spirit" to Press On

NASA has reported that Spirit has lost function in one wheel, and in order for it to survive the harsh martian winter it must make it out of the crater's shadow in order to get enough sunlight to recharge its batteries.

Ma Bell Ain't Dead Yet.

Ma Bell was broken up back before I was even born, but I've heard stories about having to deal with "Ma Bell". So when I look at an alert from the Wall Street Journal about AT&T proposing to buyout BellSouth I can't help but feel nervous, but my feelings of a new Ma Bell go back to when I heard SBC was to buy out AT&T. I thought it was somewhat ironic for a Baby Bell to buy its parent. Then I started to think, wait...I have Cingular service...what will happen to Cingular since it's a combination of SBC, BellSouth Mobility, and AT&T Wireless? Later on I heard that BellSouth probably won't be folding into AT&T anytime soon, so I was relieved. That relief has gone away now seeing that AT&T (SBC) is wanting to buy out BellSouth. Kinda has me concerned. I'm hoping that this won't pass through the Federal Trade Commission. Regardless, I'm leery towards the deal. Something just doesn't smell right.

Laughable, Frightening, or Pathetic?

I can't decide which when 1 in 4 Americans can only name more than one freedom guaranteed by the first amendment and more than half can name at least 2 characters on "The Simpsons".

Absolutely unbelievable.

High Interest Savings Account

HSBC Direct is offering an introductory 4.80% APY savings account. I know, it's an introductory offer and it will expire by the end of April, but I recall seeing them offer a constant 4.50% APY rate. I'm considering moving my account from Emigrant Direct to HSBC Direct. Emigrant Direct has no minimum balance, but I may leave $1 just to keep my account open and gain some, though very small, interest. Any thoughts from the peanut gallery?
